VolMUN X

Welcome to

February 28th - March 2nd, 2025

Letter from the

Secretary-General

Dear delegates,

My name is J.R. Huffman, and I am honored to serve as your Secretary-General for VolMUN X. Model United Nations has been dear to my heart since high school; some of my fondest memories were forged competing in conferences across the nation. Since enrolling at the University of Tennessee, I have enjoyed the privilege of helping new delegates create similar experiences. I began as a Crisis Staffer, then a Crisis Director, and finally the Undersecretary General of VolMUN IX before transitioning to my current role.

I, my secretariat, and the rest of our conference staffers here on Rocky Top are incredibly excited to share VolMUN’s tenth anniversary with your delegations! Each iteration of this conference presents new challenges and this year we are prioritizing consolidation. As such, we are endeavoring to facilitate the highest quality conference experience volunteer spirit can offer. Great care is being put into the construction of our General Assemblies, Crisis Committees, and Specialized Committees so that each delegate may fully immerse themselves in the spirit of cooperation, diplomacy, and constructive competition.

We would not have this opportunity, however, if not for the hard work and dedication of all those who came before us. There would be no VolMUN X without the many staffers who gave weeks or months of their lives to the development of our prior conferences. There would be no VolMUN X without the cooperation of the patient and thoughtful advisors who introduced their students to Model United Nations. There would be no VolMUN X without the delegates who travel to Knoxville every year to compete at our humble conference. I am so grateful for all of you, and from the bottom of my heart, I am confident that this year’s conference to be one to remember.

On behalf of the staff of VolMUN X, I wish all those coming to Rocky Top this February the very best in their travels and competition. I hope that the legacy of this conference will shine through this capstone event. It is a wonderful privilege that I have the opportunity to share VolMUN’s decennial anniversary with all of you. Until then, if you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to send me an email at secgen.volmun@gmail.com.

Sincerely,

J.R. Huffman

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We would prefer a single check encompassing the student and delegation fees be brought to the conference, but we are more than happy to work with your delegation if an alternative payment method would be easier for you. More information regarding fees can be found under the registration tab.

  • No! We are happy to accept individual delegates. You will be responsible for your own transportation and lodging, and you will need a parent/guardian to act as an advisor and attend all three days of the conference with you. Delegates attending without a school are not required to pay the delegation fee. Email secgen.volmun@gmail.com for details.

  • All VolMUN delegations receive a discounted block rate from the Graduate Knoxville, a hotel just a few blocks away from the conference site. If you are interested, email secgen.volmun@gmail.com, and I will reply with the group booking link.
